New Archivist:
Mariecris Gatlabayan, a recent graduate of Simmons College, has joined Archives and Special Collections as a tenure-track faculty member.

Exhibits:
Assistant Archivist Jeffrey Sinnott, mounted an exhibit entitled "Steamships in Trouble" in Fall 2005. It was located on the first floor of the Consortium Library in the Great Room.
The archivist, Dennis Walle, mounted an exhibit commemorating the 50th anniversary of Alaska Statehood over the perion of November 2005 to February 2006. It was entitled "Celebrating Alaska's Constitution;" it contained papers, publications, artifacts, and other materials relating to the statehood movement and the convention. It was located in the Great Room on the first floor of the Consortium Library.
Assistant Archivist Jeffrey Sinnott, mounted an exhibit entitled "The Friendly Log Cabin: The U.S.O. in Anchorage, 1941-1945" in August 2006. It was located on the first floor of the Consortium Library in the Great Room. The exhibit was removed in February 2007.
Changes in Archives Public Service Hours:
Starting July 1, 2004, as a result of budget reductions, the Archives and Special Collections Department will be open from Noon to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Occasionally, because of illness, vacations, or various commitments, the archives may lack sufficient staff to operate the program. Patrons wishing to visit the archives and/or use the departments collections are urged to contact the department staff prior to their visit.
