The photographer is unknown but the picture was probably taken by C. L. Andrews. The location is Eagle, Alaska. The original identification reads: "Capt. Amundsen at Messhouse; 1905." The original negative is damaged which accounts for the condition of the top of the image.
Reason for Selection: This is a fine view of a relaxed Amundsen at ease in a house in the Alaskan interior. He is on his return trip after completing his voyage through the Northwest Passage. (DFW & JS).
