The collection consists of papers, service patches, and photographs of a member of the Service Co., 53rd Infantry Regiment, at Adak. Subjects include training at Camp Walters, Texas (1942); service at Adak Army Air Field in the Aleutians(1943-1944); and service at Camp Swift and Fort Sam Houston, Texas, and Camp Beale, California (1944-1945).

The collection consists of the Alaska tour scrapbook of a tourist from Hemet, California. The collection contains: 8 black and white photographic prints; 121 color photographic prints; 62 color art and photo post cards; and 8 small color Alaskan tourist photographic cards. Subjects of the photographs include Anchorage, Nome, Kotzebue, Fairbanks, the Alaska Highway and Ketchikan. Subjects of the post cards include Anchorage, Nome, Fairbanks, Whitehorse and Ketchikan.

This collection consists of a copy of a diary of a Japanese medical officer and 14 photographs which Carlucci took on Shemya. The photographs depict his military unit's landing area, quarters, the aftermath of a storm, and airplanes.

The collection consists of an article and photographs relating to the Matanuska Colony. The 16 black and white photographs and postcards depict houses, farms, tents, churches, the hospital, people, Palmer Day activities, and the Matanuska School.

Among the papers of Genie Chance (Alaska reporter, newscaster, editorialist, and legislator) are a number of photographs. Series Five in the collection contains 116 photographs depicting various activities, events, and people in Anchorage, Alaska (1963-1964).

ANN FOX CHANDONNET (b. 1943). Papers; 1942-1989. 6.5 cu. ft. Inventory.
The collection consists of papers relating to Ann Chandonnet's work as an author and poet. Series 1 contains 44 prints and 3 negatives photographs which primarily relate to her family, friends, and activities. Also, there are 105 prints in her scrapbook (Series Six) which concern her work and life in Kodiak.

CHARLES MENADELOOK PROJECT. Photographs; ca. 1900-1950. .35 cu. ft.
The Charles Menadelook Project was developed in order to collect and preserve the photographs of Alaskan photographer, Charles Menadelook. The collection consists of copies of 191 black and white photographs of native villages, people, and activities in Alaska, ca. 1900-1950. Activities shown include hunting, food preservation, whaling, and fishing. Villages shown include Diomede, Gambell, Wales, Nome, Shaktoolik, King Island, and Shishmaref. There are also photographs of missionaries, and various Bureau of Indian Affairs teachers and school houses.

DR. WILL H. CHASE. (1874-1965) Photographs and negatives; ca. 1915-1930. .2 cu. ft.
The collection consists of 461 black and white photographs and negatives of Alaska and the Valdez area which belonged to Dr. Will H. Chase. The photographs are of people and family members, hunting, camping, airplanes, boats, structures, towns, scenery, and other activities and events.

WILLIAM O. L. CHINN (1928-1999). Color Slides and Photographs; 1951-1973. .9 cu. ft. Inventory.
The collection consists of the color slides and photographs of U. S. Army Corps of Engineers architect William O. L. Chinn. The collection contains 2,533 color slides, 25 color prints, and 48 black and white prints. The slides document travel for recreation and work in Alaska and Canada.

HANS J. CHRISTENSEN FAMILY; Photograph Album; 1908-1925. .2 cu. ft. List.
The collection consists of a photograph album of mining family that lived in York on the Seward Peninsula. The collection contains the original album with 187 black and white prints, including a twelve page loose insert, six loose prints, and 123 copy negatives. The photographs are primarily of miners and their families on the Seward Peninsula including York, Wales, Tin City, Teller, and Nome. Mining operations shown include those at Buck Creek, Bessie Bench, and Goodwin Gulch.

The collection consists of D. S. Clark's Alaska circle tour photograph album. The collection contains 203 prints, 32 of which are photo post cards, and 55 copy negatives of selected images. Subjects of the photographs include cities, towns, villages, parks, rivers, railroads, glaciers, steamships, and riverboat steamers.

OMER D. CLARK. Canol Pipeline Construction Photograph Album; ca. 1943-1944. .2 cu. ft.
The collection consists of the photograph album of a civilian pipeline construction worker. The collection contains 109 black and white prints and 18 black and white photo post cards. Subjects of the prints include scenery, workers, construction camps, vehicles, heavy machinery, barges, boats, airplanes, bridges, oil drilling and storage facilities, and a skidway for unloading materials by water. Included with the post cards is a set of twelve Alaska Highway construction scenes approved by the Northwest Service Command, U.S. Army.

CHARLES E. CLAYPOOL (1861-1944). (Ak. Hist. Soc. Col.). Photographs; n.d., ca. 1905-1908, 1940. .2 cu. ft. List.
The collection consists of photographs relating to Judge Charles Claypool and his family in Alaska. There are 57 black and white photographs (51 in a family album and six other mounted or loose prints). The album photographs depict Claypool and Cowles family members; their friends and business associates; a mining operation near Fairbanks; and homes, offices, horses, and dogs. They were taken in Fairbanks, Tanana, and Circle City. The loose and mounted photos depict Rampart City, Circle City, Eagle City, Fairbanks or Tanana during spring breakup, and Judge Claypool in his court chambers in Seattle.

CLEMENT H. CLOWER. World War II Photograph Albums; 1939-1946, 1990, 1993. .7 cu. ft. Inventory.
The collection consists of the World War II era photograph albums of Clement Clower, a member of the 264th Separate Coast Artillery Battalion, stationed near Dutch Harbor from 1942 to 1945. The collection consists of four different albums containing 458 black and white prints, one color print, and 58 black and white copy negatives.The first three albums concern Clower and his battalion at Dutch Harbor, and depict soldiers, buildings, facilities, ships, and scenery in the area. The fourth album concerns Clement Clower, his family and friends in West Virginia, and his friends from military service (1939-1946).

The collection consists of an album documenting Francis Cogswell's service during the Aleutian Islands Survey Expedition of 1935, and various related papers. The collection includes the original 75-page album with 235 black and white prints, and 151 copy negatives. Subjects include: Cogswell and other U.S. Navy officers, crew, and survey personnel; the minesweepers Oglala, Kingfisher, Quail and Gannet; navy seaplanes and sounding boats used in the survey; the islands of Unalaska, Kiska, Little Kiska, Amchitka, Atka, Uminak and Bogoslof, including the towns of Unalaska, Dutch Harbor, and Constantine on Amchitka; volcanoes; glaciers; and wildlife.

The collection consists of 35 black and white prints of placer gold mining operations and related images in Alaska. The mines pictured were in the vicinities of the towns of Stuyahok and Girdwood.

DOROTHY AND GRENOLD COLLINS. (1909-1999; 1907-1992). Papers; 1900-1994. 12.9 ft. Inventory.
The collection contains the papers, photographs, and motion picture film of aviator, guide, and sportsman, Grenold Collins, and his wife Dorothy Collins. It is divided into twelve series. Series 9, Photographs, contains 2,237 prints, 876 negatives, and 127 transparencies. They concern family and friends; hunting and fishing trips to Canada, Africa, India, and other places; locations in Alaska; and scenery. Series 10, Post Cards, contains 41 views primarily of Asian scenes. Series 11, Slides, contains 1,701 slides relating to Collin's travels and hunting and fishing trips.

COMMUNITY ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION OF ALASKA (CEDC). Records; 1968-1980. 58 cu. ft. Inventory.
This collection contains the records of the Community Enterprise Development Corporation of Alaska (CEDC). The records in this collection are of two types - administrative and operations records, and records of business ventures. The collection contains at least 97 prints, 96 negatives, and 2 slides; these primarily relate to business ventures.

The collection contains 54 black and white photographs with the name Counath on them. They depict southeast Alaska people, mines, towns, ships and people. The towns include Ketchikan and Ellamar. Few items are dated. The people include Jack and Jewel (Mrs. Jack Albers) Albers.

The collection consists of the second of two Alaska photograph albums of Local Reindeer Superintendent for Saint Lawrence Island O.C. Connelly and his wife Ruth. The original 74-page album contains 425 black and white prints. Subjects include: whale and walrus hunting; beluga whales; sea lions; arctic fox ; Mirow Air Service planes delivering mail; family photographs; the schoolhouse in Savoonga; artifacts and ancient dwelling at Kookoolik; yearly supplies arriving on the S.S. Sutherland; the commander and crew of the USMS North Star; reindeer camps and roundups; and travel to Seattle and back east. There are also black and white copy negatives of 92 selected images.

The collection consists of photographs and papers of a soldier in the 102nd Signal Radio Intelligence Company, stationed at Fort Richardson in Anchorage. The collection contains 135 black and white prints and 30 black and white negatives. Subjects include: Levi W. Cook and fellow soldiers at Fort Richardson, Alaska (1942-1944), Fort Lawton, Washington (Oct. 1944), Miami Beach, Florida (Nov.-Dec. 1944), and Camp Crowder, Missouri (1942); scenery, primarily in Alaska; and unidentified family members.

This collection contains materials relating to Leon Crane and his ordeal after the crash (1943) of his B-24 near Fairbanks, Alaska. Included are 3 photographs of Crane and others.

This collection consists of papers relating to the professional activities of architect Edwin B. Crittenden. Series 5, Photographs and Negatives, contains 534 prints as well as 196 negatives primarily relating to northern construction projects.

The collection consists of the tourist post card album and scrapbook of an Ohio family who visited Canada and Alaska. The album contains: 332 color photo post card and 4 large color scenic tourist photographs. Subjects include: people, cities, buildings, boats, ships, wildlife, and scenery.

THOMAS CULHANE (b. 1903). Papers and Photographs; 1935-1985. .75 cu. ft. Inventory.
The second series in the Thomas Culhane Collection consists of a photocopy of the Culhane Family photo album and selected copies of pictures from that album as well as from other photographs in the collection. There are 210 prints and 229 copy negatives. The subjects include hunting, fishing, and camping in Alaska; Matanuska; various activities in Anchorage; early hockey games between Fairbanks and Anchorage; Fur Rondy parades, activities, and dog sled races; and Walt's Transfer Company.

WALTER W. CUMMINGS (1922-2000). World War II Photograph Album, Papers and Memorabilia; 1939-1945. .5 cu. ft.
The collection consists of the photograph album, papers and memorabilia items of a U. S. Army Air Forces soldier who served at Fort Mears in Dutch Harbor. The collection contains 215 original black and white prints. Subjects include: Walter Cummings, fellow soldiers, and buildings, aircraft and other facilities at Fort Mears; Dutch Harbor; Unalaska; and scenery on Unalaska and Amaknak Islands.

JAMES W. CUNNINGHAM (1918-1989). World War II Scrapbook; 1942-1945. .2 cu. ft.
The collection consists of the scrapbook of a 78th Coast Artillery soldier. The collection contains: 91 original black and white prints; three black and white Alaska photo post cards; and four black and white photo cards of big band musicians. Subjects of the prints include: James Cunningham, Iris Olmstead and friends in California; Cunningham and fellow soldiers on Attu and Adak; and Japanese soldiers on Attu.

The collection consists of papers relating to Essie Rock Dale and Jack Ferguson. Included are 8 photographs of various people including Essie Rock Dale, Bob Bartlett, and Jack Ferguson. In addition, there is an album documenting the dedication of the Port of Anchorage which contains 17 prints.

The collection consists of a photograph album that may have belonged to Homer E. Dalrymple. The collection contains 173 black and white prints. Subjects of the photographs include: groups of young people, primarily female, living and recreating in and around the town of Douglas, Alaska; and a group touring Alaska aboard the S. S. Northwestern and the Alaska Railroad.

Among the papers in this collection relating to Frederick John Date's life and activities in Alaska are 722 prints and 590 negatives. They depict towns, buildings, social activities, mining, travel, people, his work with the Alaska Road Commission and the Alaska Railroad, and his life in Valdez.

This collection consists of a single album of photographs and manuscript items relating to the Daughters of the Golden North's trip to Alaska and Western Canada. The album contains 135 black and white prints of Alaskan and Canadian scenes, as well as other items. The majority of the black and white prints are identified with handwritten captions. The collection includes the original album, a xerographic copy, 51 conservation negatives, and 51 contact prints.

This collection of papers of Floyd Dement contains 35 undated black and white photographs primarily relating to Alaska. They include views of steamboats (Tanana, Rock Island, and the Sarah), towns (Fairbanks, Eagle, and Sitka), a church (St. Michael the Archangel cathedral), a railroad, a lighthouse, and scenery.

The collection consists of the contents of an album of a Civil Aeronautics Authority construction worker in Galena from 1939 to 1944. The collection contains 85 original black and white prints (73 of which were mounted on the album pages) and 9 color prints; and 8 black and white Alaskan tourist prints. Subjects include: Demers, fellow construction workers, people, buildings, houses, tent camps, vehicles, tractors, and boats at Galena, and people and buildings at Nulato and Koyukuk.

JAMES R. DENISON (1906-1995). World War II Scrapbook; 1942-1944. .2 cu. ft.
The collection consists of the scrapbook of a 79th Naval Construction Battalion sailor. The scrapbook contains 79 black and white prints. Subjects include: Denison and fellow sailors; battalion officers at Kodiak; buildings in the town of Kodiak; soldiers at Mt. McKinley National Park; group photographs of D Company chiefs and members; Barometer Mountain, Mount Eddy, Bell Flats, and other island scenery; and an anniversary party for sailors to mark one year on the island.

The collection consists of a photo album, related papers, and publications from Peter Dinkelspiel's trip up the Alaska Highway in the summer of 1949. The photo album contains 79 black and white photographs and post cards concerning his trip.

The collection consists of papers of successful gold miner Harry Dobson. Among the papers are 21 photographs of Alaska showing mining activities, people and scenery primarily in the Seward Peninsula area.

LAWRENCE AND OLGA DOHENY FAMILY. Papers; 1917-1980. 21.85 cu. ft. Inventory.
The collection consists of the papers of the Lawrence and Olga Doheny Family, an Alaskan mining family. The family photographs include over 5,700 black and white and color images (prints, negatives, slides, transparencies) documenting the lives of Larry Doheny, Olga Strandberg Doheny, their three children: Michael, Kathleen , and Jenny, their families, and other relatives and friends. Locations depicted in the photographs include Wisconsin, New Mexico, Fairbanks, Candle Creek, Wild Lake, McGrath, Stephens Village, Arne Erickson's Crow Creek Mine, and Anchorage.

The collection contains 92 original black and white prints. Subjects include: Headquarters of the Northwest Service Command and Northwest Division, U. S. Army Engineering District, Corps of Engineers facilities in Edmonton, Alberta, including images of its construction; the city of Edmonton; the Engineering Section of the U. S. Army Engineering District; and the Alaska Highway.

This collection consists primarily of papers relative to James Doogan's activities at the Alaska Constitutional Convention. Among the papers is 1 photograph of James Doogan and his wife.

The collection consists of the photographs of an 11th Air Force airplane mechanic stationed at Fort Richardson. The collection contains 258 black and white prints. Subjects include: Douglas and fellow soldiers of the 11th Air Force at Fort Richardson and Elmendorf Field in Anchorage; a 42nd Troop Carrier Squadron Alaska cake; the Curry Hotel on the Alaska Railroad; and the railroad station and hotel at Mount McKinley National Park.

The collection consists primarily of papers and and photographs relating to Rusty Dow's life in Alaska. Among the papers in the collection, Series 11, Photographs, contains 1760 black and white and color prints and 1537 negatives. Subjects include friends and family in California; Alaska during World War II; a 1947 trip through Canada and through the lower 48 to Florida by car; people and places in the Matanuska Valley;and gold mining, the Palmer Pioneer Home, and so forth.

This collection of papers of Russ Dow contains a large number of black and white and color photograph prints and negatives; filmstrips; photographs taken by, or received from, others; color slides; greeting cards; and post cards. These include 7884 prints, 6345 negatives, 1898 slides, 222 post cards, and 46 filmstrips. Among these are photographs and materials relating to pilot Bob Reeve, the Ruff & Tuff Mine (Columbia Glacier), McKinley Park, Independence Mine, a logging camp at Pigot Bay, Fort Richardson under construction, skiing and ski jumping, the Cripple Creek Gold Mine near Aniak, the Alaska Military Highway, the Anchorage Fur Rendezvous, the Alaska State Fair, and the Palmer Pioneer Home.

The collection contains various papers, motion picture film, color photographic slides, and photographic prints of Oliver T. Edwards, a wildlife management worker for the U.S. Forest Service. The collection contains over 267 color slides of Alaskan animals, plant life, natural scenes, and various communities. There are also contains 67 black and white photographic prints and 327 black and white negatives of natural scenes and animals taken in Southcentral and Southeastern Alaska.

KEITH W. EGAN (1916-1998). World War II Photograph Album; 1941-1943, 1954-1955, 1962. .25 cu. ft.
The collection consists of the photograph album of a soldier of the 75th Coast Artillery, stationed at Fort Richardon. The collection contains 311 original black and white prints and 9 copy negatives: 161 were taken during Egan's service at Fort Richardson in 1941 to 1943; 89 were sent to Egan during the war by his fiancé, Josephine Jones of Huntington Woods, Michigan; his parents in Richmond, Utah; and his siblings, and other relatives; 32 are of Egan and his family and friends from 1954 and 1955; and 29 are commercial tourist prints and a photo post card, including images of Alaskan towns, Detroit, Michigan , and the Columbia River Highway in Oregon.

This collection consists of a scrapbook of photos and photo postcards relating to Otto W. Eggerman's service in the Army while in Alaska. The photos include images of Eggerman and his fellow soldiers, friends from home, buildings, equipment, and scenery. The postcards include popular tourist images of scenery, fishing, and wildlife. (There are 44 black and white photos and 11 black and white photo postcards, most of which are unidentified, the original scrapbook cover, and a xerographic copy of the scrapbook).

KARL F. EID (b. 1909). Papers; 1937-1998. 1.75 cu. ft. Inventory.
The collection consists of papers documenting Karl Eid's professional culinary career and his involvement in coaching skiing and ski jumping in the Anchorage area. There are 34 photographs in Series 2, Professional Papers; 256 in Series 3, Skiing/Ski Jumping Papers; 31 prints, 19 negatives and 1 transparency in Series 4, Photographs; and 60 slides in Series 5, Culinary Color Slides. These images relate to early and more recent skiing and ski jumping in the Anchorage area, Eid's involvement in coaching ski jumping and developing ski jumping facilities in the Anchorage area, and his culinary activities. The latter include decorative cakes, displays, and other items created by Eid. The color slides are of cakes, displays, and other items.

Series Two contains editorial files relating to the publication of the newsletters and includes correspondence, layout materials, invoices, clippings, and 26 photographs used in the newsletters.

This collection consists of the records and papers acquired during the course of the Eleventh Air Force Reunion 1990, World War II History Project, and placed in the archives. There are four series. Series Two, Project Photographs, contains 348 negatives and 6 contact prints of pictures loaned by veteran's for copying at the meeting site and photographs of interviewers and interviewees. Series Three, Veteran's Files, contains papers as well as copies of photographs (144 negatives and 19 contact prints) also loaned by veterans for copying.

ADRIAN EDISON ERICKSON. Tourist Photograph Album; June - July, 1924. .1 cu. ft.
This collection consists of a photograph album created by Adrian Erickson while on a trip through Alaska and Canada in 1924. The album contains 62 black and white prints depicting scenes from throughout Southeast Alaska and Western Canada. Included are images of Vancouver, Prince Rupert, and Alert Bay, British Columbia; Ketchikan, Taku Glacier, Juneau, and Skagway, Alaska; White Pass, Dawson, Whitehorse, Moosehide, and Carcross, Yukon Territory. Also featured are images of Native settlements, mining, the SS Princess Alice, the paddlewheel steamers Tutshi and Casca, and the Taylor Drury Pedlar & Company General Store.

HERMAN ERICKSON FAMILY. Tourist Color Slides; 1951-1969. .2 cu. ft.
The collection consists of the slides of a Fresno, California family that took a cruise to Southeast Alaska in 1969. The collection contains 688 color 35mm slides. Subjects include: Bridge Lake, B.C. (1951); Paradise Lodge and Francois Lake, B.C.trip (1952); Francois Lake, B.C. trip (1954); World's Fair, Brussels, Belgium (1958); family and Coastal Oregon and California (1959-1960); Yosemite National Park , the Colorado Rockies and family home (1965); and Alaska cruise (1969).

CATHY EVANS. Tourist Photograph Album; ca. late 1960s. .1 cu. ft.
The collection consists of a tourist photograph album of a young girl who visited Alaska and the Yukon Territory. The album contains 40 color prints and 14 color and black and white photo post cards. Subjects include: Cathy Evans, her brother Tim, family and friends; Matanuska Glacier; Portage Glacier; Cook Inlet; Mt. McKinley National Park; Homer; Haines; Fraser River Canyon; and the Malemute Saloon in Ester.

WILLIAM C. FACKLER (1915-1993). Photographs and Negatives; 1959-1960. .2 cu. ft.
The collection consists of a geologist's photographs of an oil drilling operation near the village of Nulato, Alaska. The collection contains 76 black and white prints and 75 black and white negatives. The photographs were taken at Nulato, Benedum Landing, and at a base camp on the south fork of the Nulato River.

TOM FARADAY. Tourist Photograph Album; 1939-1940. .1 cu. ft. List.
This collection consists of an album created by Tom Faraday while on a trip from San Francisco to Alaska in 1940. The album contains 60 black and white photographic prints depicting scenes from California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, and Alaska. Included are images of Victoria, Campbell River, Sayward, Albert Bay, Bella Bella, Butedale, Prince Rupert, and Hardy Bay, British Columbia. Also included are images of Hyder, Alaska, the Oregon Coast, and Presidio Junior High School in San Francisco, California.

CHARLES O. FARCIOT. Papers and Photographs; 1858-1986. .7 cu. ft. List.
The collection consists of copied papers and photographs of Charles O. Farciot, Arizona photographer, who came to Alaska with prospector Ed Schieffelin in 1882. The images in the collection consist of xerographic copies of Farciot's original Alaska and Arizona Albums (two of each) along with black and white copy negatives and contact prints of all of the different Alaska photographs (46) and a selection of those taken in Arizona (16). The Alaska photographs include views of Fort St. Michael, Nuklakahyet, Fort Yukon, steamboats, Eskimos, and various natives. There are 62 copy negatives.

This collection consists of 59 photograph negatives taken by James Ferguson on his visits to Alaska. They include views of Anchorage and Alaska mountains (aerial); Fairbanks (n.d., 1948); a gold mine; personalities (n.d., 1948); and a pig farm.

PETER L. FERRY FAMILY (Ak. Hist. Soc. Col.). Tourist Photographs; 1929. .1 cu. ft. List.
The collection consists of the tourist photographs of a California family that visited Alaska and the Yukon Territory. The collection contains 57 original, and 3 copied, black and white prints, as well as 23 copy negatives of selected images. Nineteen of the prints are of the Valley of 10,000 Smokes, glaciers, and the early glacier scientist, Father Bernard Rosecrans Hubbard, S. J. The remaining prints are the family photographs of Peter L. Ferry, and include images of Miles Canyon, Whitehorse Rapids, Lake Bennett, Dawson, Cordova, Miles Glacier, Taku Glacier, Columbia Glacier, Fairbanks, Anchorage, Mount McKinley National Park, Carcross, Petersburg, and Fort Yukon. Non-family members pictured include Klondike gold discoverer George Washington Carmack and Indian historical lecturer Patsy Henderson.

THELMA FETTERS. World War Scrapbook; 1942-1943. .2 cu. ft.
This collection consists of the contents of a World War II era scrapbook of photographs and clippings on Alaskan subjects kept by Thelma Fetters from 1942 to 1943. The photographs (65 black and white prints) include images of unidentified people and locations in Anchorage as well as unidentified scenic views. Included are street scenes of Fourth Avenue in Anchorage, the South Seas bar and dance room in downtown Anchorage, the Mountain View Groceries store, a boat at a dock on Kenai Lake, and unidentified scenic prints and photo post cards.

FRED WILDON FICKETT (1857-1928). Papers; 1877-1906. 3.5 cu. ft. Published guide; Series Descriptions.
This collection contains the papers of Fred Wildon Fickett, soldier, explorer, and member of the Alaska exploratory expedition in 1885. It consists of diaries and notebooks, correspondence, military orders and papers, legal papers, photographs, printed materials, and four artifacts. There are at least 84 photographs, many of which concern Alaska in the 1880s. Among these are personal photos, Allen Expedition members, views of Sitka, and other Alaska scenes. In addition, these include a number of photos of Fickett and his family in their later years.

HOWARD R. FILER (d. 1987). Papers; 1937, 1940-1941, 1956. .25 cu. ft. Inventory.
This collection contains papers relating to Mr. Filer's time in Alaska and travels in Europe. Among these are 6 black and white photographs of Anchorage and surrounding areas (1940-1941) and 1 post card from a trip to Europe.

EDWIN F. FINCH. Alaska Earthquake Scrapbook; 1964. .2 cu. ft.
The collection consists of the contents of the scrapbook of an Anchorage resident and employee onf the Federal Aviation Agency. It contains forty-two black and white and two color photographs of earthquake damage in Anchorage, primarily the Turnagain Heights subdivision and downtown.

FINNISH-AMERICAN HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF THE WEST. (Ak. Hist. Soc. Col.). Alaska Publications; 1995, 1996. .1 cu. ft.
This collection consists of publications about Finns in Alaska by the Finnish-American Historical Society of the West, located in Portland, Oregon. Among these items is 1 color photo post card of the "Historic Lingren Cabin, Cullaby Lake Park, Clatsop County," which is maintained by the society.

MILDRED FISHER. Tourist Photograph Album and Trip Narrative; 1939. .2 cu. ft.
The collection consists of papers of Oklahoma schoolteacher Mildred Fisher, from a tour of the Western U.S. and Alaska. The collection contains 88 original black and white prints; 78 small black and white and color commercial tourist photo prints; and 8 black and white and 4 color photo post cards. Subjects of the photographs include images of Southeast Alaska, Idaho, California, Oregon, Arizona and Colorado.

WALTER J. FITZGERALD, S. J. (1883-1947). Photographs; 1940. .1 cu. ft.
The collection consists of photographs from Catholic Bishop Walter J. Fitzgerald's confirmation tour of the Lower Yukon River and the Bering Sea in the spring of 1940. The collection contains twelve black and white prints of ten different images, and ten black and white preservation copy negatives. The photographs were taken at Nulato, Stebbins, St. Michael, and Chaneliak (also spelled Chaniliut).

GERALD T. FLYNN (11th A. F. Assn. Col.). World War II Combat Photographs; n.d., 1942-1944. .1 cu. ft. List.
The collection consists of photographs collected by Eleventh Air Force veteran Gerald T. Flynn. There are 17 black and white prints of aerial combat, aircraft, airfield facilities, and aerial views. Locations include Attu and Kiska. The combat photographs include those of Japanese ships under aerial attack.

HAROLD G. FORSTER (1911-1998). World War II Photograph Album; 1942-1945. .2 cu. ft.
The collection consists of the contents of the album of Eleventh Air Force soldier Harold G. Forster. The collection contains: 205 original black and white prints; 23 black and white Alaskan commercial tourist prints; 9 black and white commercial tourist prints of subjects in Winnipeg, Manitoba; and 14 black and white tourist photo post cards. Subjects of the original prints include: Harold Forster and fellow soldiers at Elmendorf Field on Fort Richardson, Naknek, Yakutat, Kodiak and Cordova; Harold Forster and friends and family; and army vehicles, equipment, buildings, and other facilities; and scenery.

ROBERT FORTUINE (b. 1934). Papers; 1957-1996. 7.25 cu. ft. List.
The collection consists of Robert Fortuine's published and unpublished writings, as well as papers relating to the International Symposium on Circumpolar Health and the American Society for Circumpolar Health. The collection contains 3 color prints by Dr. Fortuine which were used on covers of Alaska Medicine as well as approximately 2,500 color 35 mm slides taken by Dr. Fortuine while working for the Public Health Service in Alaska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Maryland, and Arizona.

ANDY FOSSUM. World War II Papers and Photographs; n.d., 1941-1943, 1945. .4 cu. ft. Inventory.
This collection consists of the World War II correspondence and photograph album of U. S. Army Corps of Engineers soldier Andy Fossum. The subject of the 138 black and white photographs include Seward, construction at Fort Raymond, the Jesse Lee Home, Resurrection Bay, and other locations on the Kenai Peninsula. They also include photographs of the fire in Seward in November 1941, and post cards and souvenir photographs of various Alaska subjects.

FRANK C. FOX. Photographs; 1946-1993. .5 cu. ft. List.
The collection consists of the aviation photographs of a U. S. Air Force helicopter pilot. The collection contains: 212 black and white prints; 212 color prints; and 2 black and white negatives. They primarily relate to Fox's Air Force career in Germany (1953-1956), in the Washington, D.C. area (1957-1962), and Alaska (1962-1966). It also includes aerial views of damage from the Alaska Earthquake of 1964, and images of various military helicopters and airplanes.

WILLIAM H. FRANCIS. World War II Photograph Album; n.d., 1941-1942. .25 cu. ft.
The collection consists of the album of a U. S. Army Air Corps officer who served at Elmendorf Field and in the Aleutians. The collection contains: 104 original black and white prints; 22 black and white Alaska commercial tourist prints; 11 black and white negatives; and a black and white post card portrait of Lawrence Welk autographed by him in Chicago. Subjects of the photographs include: Francis and fellow soldiers and airmen; class photos of Air Corps Technical School armament classes; aerial views; aircraft; skiing; state capitols and other buildings; and scenery. The negatives are primarily of a small girl and her mother.

HENRY K. "HANK" FRESE (1922-2004). World War II Veterans' Papers and Photographs; 1942-2003. 5.2 cu. ft. Inventory.
The collection consists of the veterans related papers and photographs of a Shemya Air Base veteran. Photographs are located in three series: 2) records of reunions and related events; 6) Hank Frese photograph collection; and 7) collections received from other Shemya veterans. The Hank Frese photograph collection contains images of soldiers, aircraft and facilities at Shemya Air Base, as well as those of Attu Island, Japanese bombing targets, aerial subjects, and veterans reunions. The collections that Frese received from other Shemya veterans consist primarily of photographs and concern personnel and operations at Shemya Air Base, military aircraft, and veterans reunions. The collection contains approximately 4,000 prints and negatives in total.
