KENNETH J. HUSEBY. Photographs; 1964. .1 cu. ft.
The collection consists of photographs of the damage of the 1964 Alaska Earthquake in Anchorage, Portage, and Seward. There are twenty-six black and white prints. These include twenty 5 x 7 inch prints, and one 8 x 10 inch print, all being U. S. Army Corps of Engineers photos. The remaining five 3½ x 5 inch prints are of unknown origin. Specific areas represented include 4th Avenue, the J. C. Penney Building, L Street, West High School, Government Hill, Bootleggers Cove, Turnagain, a bridge on the Seward Highway, Portage, and Seward harbor. They depict damaged and destroyed buildings, sunken streets and houses, fallen trees, a damaged bridge, a wrecked railroad engine, and beached boats.
The collection was presented to the archives by Kenneth J. Huseby in 1993.
