GREENPEACE ALASKA. Newsletter and Reports; 1980. .1 cu. ft. List.
Greenpeace is an international environmental conservation organization, founded in 1969 by Canadian environmentalists. Its purpose is to work to change government and industrial policies that threaten the world's wildlife and natural resources. Greenpeace Alaska is a chapter of the international organization. Its activities have included studying the impact of offshore oil drilling and exploration on marine wildlife and the environment and conducting studies to determine the effectiveness of government regulations designed to protect wildlife. Greenpeace Alaska also publishes a newsletter entitled Sourceline which concerns its various activities throughout Alaska.
The collection consists of copies of the newsletter Sourceline for October/November 1980; a report prepared by Greenpeace concerning oil drilling in the Beaufort Sea; a report on regulations to protect humpback whales in Glacier Bay National Monument; instructions for whale watching; and an information sheet on aerial wolf hunting.
The collection was presented to the archives by Greenpeace
